At Bridal Makeovers by Aradia we have the privilege of being inspired, amazed and swept off our feet by the beautiful affairs from all over South Florida that we create hair and makeup for. The wedding of our lovely bride Vicky was a classic example of why we love what we do! She chose the Deering Estate for her wedding because it is such a beautiful venue for an outdoor, historic Florida event.
In two words, I would describe Vicky’s wedding to be elegant and classic! Check it out. This wedding is full of all of my favorite things: a beautiful lace wedding gown, beautiful blossoms, and a gorgeous couple madly in love.

Hello my brides, I am back! Today I wanted to share some of the photos of Bridal Makeovers by Aradia’s bride – Vanessa, who was immersed by the beauty of the historic Biltmore Estate on her September 19th, 2015 wedding day. It was truly one of the most memorable weddings of the year in one of the most luxurious wedding venues in the world!

You wouldn’t take your own wedding photos on your big day? Now why would you do your own makeup?
Cameras will always register things in a way that is different from our biological eyes and brains.
The fact is that professional photography requires a professional makeup application. Your bridal makeup shouldn’t be an after-thought. The reason is that HD cameras expose every detail, including garish foundation and powder with low-definition standards. Particularly, these new camera phones that pick up on makeup that settles into wrinkles or scars, making any imperfections appear worse. Now that everyone seems to be an amateur photographer, posting un-retouched photos to social media willy-nilly, smart brides are taking pre-emptive measures to ensure their makeup looks flawless.
The most important factor is that your foundation needs to be invisible, yet still have plenty of coverage, so it will not show up in your wedding photos. It’s tricky because the camera’s flash changes the tone of your skin so you might need a shade that’s a touch darker or you’ll look washed out. What a professional like myself can offer is the ability to perfectly match your foundation to your skin tone, something that is often over-looked in self application. Using specialty airbrush techniques and working with natural light works best when facing the challenge of creating an application that looks natural to the naked eye yet, it is completely photo-ready and long lasting. And we all know that having a washed out face while the rest of you is a shade darker is not a good look. (Side note: This can also be an editing nightmare for your photographer and could cost you additional fees for the touch-up work involved.)
Yes, a good photographer can light you or retouch you to help clarify your features, but I would just as soon simplify their task with the water-based airbrush formula that I evenly apply via a fine mist. It works well for photo shoots because it doesn’t bounce the light from the flash back (which gives an unflattering white or lighter cast to the face) and it won’t mix with the oils in your skin, thereby changing the color of your foundation. It’s also sweat/waterproof for up to 18 hours ensuring your makeup won’t run or smudge throughout the duration of your wedding. “Wouldn’t you rather have a lot of good shots to choose from versus just a few heavily edited ones?”
About Bridal Makeovers
My name is Aradia Vive, I am the founder and lead artist of Bridal Makeovers. I so believe that the right makeup makes a huge difference in the outcome of your photos and hope you find this blog helpful when planning you wedding look. Even the best lighting captured by the best photographer with the fanciest lens will capture a face differently than the way our human eyes and brains perceive the same face. And depending on your budget or location, working with the best photographer may not be an option, so I find it helpful to do what you can to ready yourself without relying completely on external factors. After 20 plus years experience in creating photo-ready makeup looks I have made it my mission to show brides how to look their best; how to enhance, not cover their natural beauty. I am truly dedicated to everything I do. I closely listen to my brides needs to give them the best advice and services they can trust.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog.

It’s time for another dose of beauty, and today it comes in the form of beautiful bridal couture collections. I am blessed to be surrounded by many sources of inspiration but, I have an innate love for the detail and poetic nuances that are found in the flamboyance of Spanish design.

If you have been following my blog you probably realized by now that I’m in love with fashion history and re-invention of the past, with it’s beautifully crafted gowns and unmistakable twist on theatrics. In an era where creativity is paramount in staying ahead of the fashion curve, Spanish bridal designers have combined the best of fast forward with the beauty of tradition. I find that Spanish couturiers may very well be leading the way in over-the-top chic concepts, they evoke a shared inspiration.

The roaring decade of the 1920’s not only embodied a period of glamour and drama, it also represented the rise of the “Flapper”, the “new women” who pushed the boundaries of gender identity and represented sexual and economic freedom, something that is still appealing to young women today.
The Flapper Bride epitomizes the hedonistic subculture that made the Roaring Twenties roar!
1920’s flappers were at the forefront of the revolution that challenged Victorian attitudes towards women. They demanded the freedom to live their own lives and had a lot of fun doing it. These women wore obvious make-up, showed their knees and flung themselves into the hedonistic rhythms of Jazz and the Charleston. They threw away their restrictive corsets, cut their hair, smoked, wore trousers and drove fast cars. Life was fun and meant for living!

That era began with the look called “comme le garcon” (or, “like the boy”) – short hair was a big deal – nice girls kept their hair long, as a metaphor for maidenhood. For a woman to chop her hair short was to practically admit she was no longer a virgin. Moreover, they began smoking in public – something no “lady” did.

Photo Shoots For Brides – High-Fashion Bridal Photography
Although there are several types of photo shoots for brides – high-fashion bridal photography, bridal portraits, wedding day photo shoots, engagement shoots, etc., our favorites are the High Fashion Bridal Portraits, which are a lot of fun because they allow us to channel our fashion background and apply it toward bridal. These types of photo shoots have become really popular with our brides at Bridal Makeovers. We are strong believers in brides having a bridal portrait session. For those of you who are unfamiliar with a Bridal Photo Shoot Session, it’s one of those time-honored traditions that have regained popularity in recent years. Formal bridal portraits were treated as an heirloom to be treasured for generations to come. These carefully crafted portraits of the bride in her wedding gown were considered to be works of art.
Not only is it one of the few times that a regular woman gets to be treated like a celebrity while she is primped up and polished to take gorgeous photos of herself, which in itself makes the whole experience worthwhile but, it’s also a great trial run for the wedding day. This is your no-pressure practice time in front of my camera! The “model” face is always a foreign concept and posing doesn’t always come naturally. This is why this type of photo session is awesome! A Bridal Photo Shoot Session allows my brides to get super comfortable in front of the camera without the pressure of the wedding day timeline and the nerves that come along with a wedding day! By the time the wedding rolls around, they have mastered their poses and they feel confident in front of the camera, instead of timid. I always emphasize that it is important to add a bit of ‘fashion flair’ to your portraiture. You don’t want to be boring or typical. For the record, we love how all our real brides look so much more beautiful in their dresses than most of our professional models from our fashion shoots! I feel it’s because our brides have real bodies – curvy or not-so-curvy. And the glow on the face of the real brides beats any air-brushed model any day!
That being said, if you utilize the concepts behind fashion photography, you will be able to create striking images. If you’re considering having a bridal portrait taken with a high fashion twist, please contact us and let us know. Just like some of the editors from the bridal magazines that have contacted Bridal Makeovers for studio and location shoots, now you can too. With our high fashion, fine art touch you are bound to feel like a model on an editorial shoot. Just like a fashion shoot, Bridal Makeovers works on-location to create your unforgettable bridal look. Get gorgeous hair, flawless makeup and red carpet treatment! It’s your day to shine!

TIPS to make the most of your Bridal Portrait/Fashion Shoot
To eliminate blinking in all your beautiful wedding photos, use this tip: relax your eyes before the shot by looking down. Then, when the photographer says “cheese”, look up just as the picture is being taken.
To create a thinner line in your photos, angle your body slightly toward the camera. Never stand facing the camera straight on.
Don’t be afraid to glam it up. It’s your bridal portrait! It’s your day to be spectacularly glamorous! Add a little bling to your style like eye lash extensions and hair extensions. Remember, all eyes will be on you and you want to look gorgeous!
