Bridal Fashion Runway Looks
Get inspired from these looks and test them during your makeup trial to see which works best with your complexion and wedding-day style. Learning to be a trend-spotter instead of a fashion victim is as simple as being able to translate the runway into real terms. Find inspiration from the art on the runway, then make it your own.

Brides, if you are avoiding that frosted/metallic/iridescent look and want to add depth, dimension and a flattering cast to your eyes, you’ll need a collection of shadows that are truly matte. I love a neutral palette with shades ranging from light to dark. For a photo-ready look, every bride needs an essential palette of a selection of subtle and smoky shades browns.
Start by blending an ivory shade on the brow bone. Follow with a light taupe or caramel; remember to blend it well on the lid. A muted golden brown is a typical crease color for neutral looks. A deeper brown in the crease to make it look more defined and dramatic. A chocolate brown color is a must, the trick to this shadow is layering the amount you put on your lid. A light layer can give you a subtle daytime look. If you pack on the color, you will get a sultry smoky eye . You can come up with lots of great natural or dramatic combos with these colors! A dark brown-blackish matte eyeshadow is great for smudging along the lash-line to make your lashes look thicker. It turns any daytime look into a night look, and if you blend it in with a matte jet black it adds dimension to eyes. A sultry chocolate palette of dramatic shades, perfect for creating any smoky eye look. Look for shades with velvety/suede finish with amazing color pay-off.
A very pigmented matte dark brown eyeshadow and a creamy bisque shade should be a staple in everyone’s collection (in my opinion).

Fuller, defined brows are popular this fall and are a classic look for bridal.
Thick eyebrows are making a big bold come-back this season and were seen across a wide variety of runways. Eyebrows really frame and define the face and pull the whole look together. Following the natural shape of your brow is generally the rule of thumb. Designer Faces – NARS: Marc Jacobs Spring 2013

Another Awards show has come and gone, and The Grammy’s did not disappoint! Though music’s biggest night usually brings out celebrities’ most wild styles, the 2013 Grammys produced more traditional fashion moments. I found myself loving so many hair and makeup red carpet looks. Here are the favorites of the night that are perfect for bridal. . . Whether or not they walked home with a statue, they’re winners in our book for highlighting their best features and inspiring our brides with these gorgeous makeup looks and hairstyles.
Beyoncé – Grammy Awards 2013: Red Carpet Makeup & Hair
Beyoncé rocked one of this spring’s most chic and simple hair trends: showing off a picture-perfect ponytail on stage at the Grammys. Minimal make-up of bright red lipstick, flirty liner let her natural beauty shine through… All very sleek, sophisticated and influential to brides seeking a more polished feel for their wedding day look.
Katy Perry – Grammy Awards 2013: Red Carpet Makeup & Hair
Katy Perry offered one of the best beauty looks of the night! She was truly a showstopper with her voluminous, bouffant blown-out hair, strong eyebrows, look-at-me lashes and nude lips. Very inspiring for brides searching for a vintage, bridal bombshell look!

Styling, Shaping and Maintaining Your Eyebrows
We all know the importance of beautifully shaped brows. Angles and arches can instantly frame your face, giving your features a more balanced look. When brows are neglected and overly plucked they frame the face improperly. Brows can make — or break — a bride’s face. Really good brows are such an important part of a “finished look” for bridal makeup. Brows can make — or break — a face.
Hilary Rhoda, full brows frame her piercing blue eyes
Thinner isn’t always better. Take Hilary Rhoda, for example. Much of her stunning beauty can be attributed to her, full brows which frame her piercing blue eyes.
Achieving the perfect arch is a tricky undertaking. Arched brows are the easiest way to frame your face and give you a softer, more feminine look. Don’t take it too far, or you risk the unpleasant results of an overly arched brow. So, put the tweezers down before it’s too late– it’s much easier to correct a full brow than a skinny one – details are below. Just follow your brow’s natural growth angle. The key is to make it look like something that could really be there, not something that you painted on.
Science does not allow for magic, but it does allow for healing cosmetics. The elaborate eye makeup worn by Queen Nefertiti was believed to have healing powers.
Queen Nefertiti’s eye makeup was believed to have healing powers
Eyebrows were traditionally considered an area with a high erotic impact. Nefertiti colored them with charcoal, Cleopatra shaved them, the Venetian courtesans perfumed them with jasmine and Marlene Dietrich wore them arched. But, the days of the pencil thin, barely-there eyebrow are gone– finally! With the latest trend of bold eyebrows, the daily brow touch up is a thing of the past.
The trend now for brides is a fuller, nice, more natural shape and angle to brows. It’s the bit of roughness and softness that makes it more natural and appealing. Forget the too thin and manicured look of the eighties and nineties. Even if you have naturally thin eyebrows, a good makeup artist can play with technique to fill them up. The pointed arch and teardrop shapes that defined the makeup looks of the brides from the nineties are out, too. They make 2012/13 brides look dated. And thin, severe brows can be very aging, too. Who wants to look old on their wedding? A fuller, more natural and softer brow enhances a youthful look. Your wedding eyebrows should be well-defined, shaped and groomed. Your makeup artist will probably apply some transparent shimmery shadows right on your brow bone to achieve the sexy glow. Continue Reading…
