Bridal Beauty Trends – Spring/Summer 2012

Bridal beauty trends, tastes and styles are always changing, and here at Bridal Makeovers, we make it our job to update our skills and to dish out the latest and greatest wedding hair & makeup looks and ideas. This blog/gallery features some of our favorite beauty trends for 2012 brides.

We’re going to kick off a Bridal Makeup Spring/Summer 2012 Style post on the trends and  makeup must haves for the season!  Here’s a look at what this season’s makeup trends are. Brides will love The Bare Faced Chic look of this season’s natural ‘nude’  face that’s ruling the runways. The idea is that less is more and fresh faced look is in, in a big way.

 

While following trends will keep you fashion-forward, it’s best to keep it simple. I absolutely love the high-fashion treatment that classic bridal has been getting the past few seasons. It’s really refreshing to see unique gowns in unexpected colors, silhouettes, and fabrics. Since bridal designers are definitely thinking outside the box this season with colored gowns and printed wedding dresses that I got to thinking about all the creative ways to incorporate blossoming prints and patterns into bridal makeup artistry.

I feel you should pick one simple element, it could be a color, something in a sweet cotton-candy pink or something embellished with lace and covered in pearls and crystals, that’s going to be on-trend. Take one visual element and incorporate it into your wedding makeup palette. Another updated option is to almost reverse the smoky eye by applying a crystal/nude shadow and chocolate liner below the bottom lash line. I suggest easing up on the super lined, smokey eyes and just lining the eyes from the outer corners to the middle, like the models at the spring 2012 Dolce & Gabbana show.

 

Daytime Spring/Summer Bridal makeup looks concentrate on having nude peachy lips, peach shades for the eyes, peachy skin tone foundation with a touch of ivory shimmer, with natural eyebrows.

Lashes are big for Spring/Summer 2012. Its all about the perfection of a gorgeous lace dress and a full-on face of glamorous makeup.

The Luis Vuitton 2012 spring/summer makeup trend is probably my favorite among all of the looks here. It’s feminine, doll-like, and sweet! Go for thick eyebrows, nude lips, some fake lashes, and glowing skin to pull this trend. Pay attention to the lashes for this trend.

 

Doll Lashes (one trend I’m loving all year round) add volume and length to bottom and top lashes which opens up your eyes.

Healthy Skin

It’s time to tone down the foundation and use lighter formulas which give your skin an all-over, healthy looking finish. Because lighter formulas give less coverage, you’ll need to make sure that you’re drinking plenty of water and following your beauty regime religiously to start off with a great canvas that doesn’t require much touch-up.

All the makeup palettes this season seam to be inspired by the romantic colors from wild flower gardens.

Spring/Summer 2012 bridal beauty trends indicate a definite return to femininity and glamor. It’s a very romantic and girlish take on couture. Princess chic is a massive trend and that starts with everything from floor-length skirts to taffeta, tulle and organza. Pastels are popular and floral prints are also big. The runways served up a huge dose of beauty, marking trends for wedding makeup and hairstyles in the coming year. Stiff coiffures, overdone eyes, defined lips and matte skin are out. Tousled hair, soft-smokey eyeliner, dewy lips and luminous skin are in.

 

It’s all about highlighting the inner corners of the eyes, the bridge of the nose, cheekbones and cupids bow. Giorgio Armani Luce – The Armani Light Spring 2012 Makeup Collection is perfect for achieving dimension of luminosity due to that added jolt of antique rose gold in its new palette. Just looking at the packaging, radiance and light are associated with Armani’s luminescent products that include a technology that traps both pigment and opalescent particles in order to offer a translucent glow that will illuminate the complexion for hours.

HAIR

The runways showed a lot of hair that was swept up into a messy french twists and adorned with a simple encrusted headbands or dainty tiaras.

Spring/Summer 2012 brings with it ultra-feminine hairstyles! It’s time to enjoy being a bride! Get to wear tiaras and headbands this year which are really feminine and dainty!

At the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2012 show, the models—with perfect skin, sculpted brows, soft makeup, and easy up-dos could have easily waltzed off the catwalk and on to the aisle.

How To Recreate The Look?

You’ll need a rich brown liner to trace under the lower lashes, then use a black kohl pencil to draw a wing at the outer corners, make sure to reinforce the wing by wetting a matte black shadow and draw it over the wing. False lashes should be glued to the outer corners only in order to blend in with your natural lashes.Check out how dramatic the full lashes are on most of these models! There must be at least three pairs of faux lashes stacked on top of each other… Just brilliant!

I’m a sucker for a wide-eyed doll look. I love Ardell’s Invisi Brand Lashes Demi Wispies; they are perfect for adding dramatic volume and flair along the outer corner of the lashes. These partial lashes are designed with varying lengths of wispy fibers with a hint of a curl that flare outwards for flirty lashes. Also try the Ardell Accents, a fab collection of half doll lashes. Half lashes can add and enhance density along the outer edge of your lashline and will change the way you look at faux lashes forever.

Spring/Summer 2012 – Ultra-Feminine Hairstyles!

 

If you like how utterly dramatic full lashes are in most of these looks then you will just love Lancome’s Hypnôse Doll Lashes. Perfect for dark, flirty lashes. This mascara was seven years in the making and gives a “doll-lash effect” with its cone shaped wand. I LOVE the wand since it allows me to be extremely close to the lash line and inner corners. The difference between Doll Lashes and any other mascara in the market is the fan-like effect it makes on the outer edge of the lashes. In most cases you don’t even need to curl your lashes get that wide-eyed look.

 

Whether sculpted into a high-drama up-do or woven into intricate braids, this season’s styles were all about strong shapes. I like the slight mod appeal in these fresh beauty looks with all the focus on the eyes and the hair but,  in our opinion the retro looks can be a hit or a miss. Especially in hairstyles. These retro/runway inspired hair looks can be an elegant addition or an over done disaster.

 

To make these styles work, you really have to think about how the hair will complement your bridal gown. If you are not sure, you’ll need a practice run and great communication with your bridal hairstylist. Think chic, but realistic!

 

You will fall in love with this season’s braids and twists. Braids and twists are my absolute favorite! It is very hard to go wrong with this style… So flirty and sophisticated…  They create great hair styles for brides. The braided up-dos created at Valentino epitomized the beauty and elegance of this timeless style. The very soft, very pretty, French twists from the D&G show were inspired by Sofia Loren going to market in Sicily on a hot summer night. Sexy, summery and uncomplicated.
